The more leaders understand Boy Scouting, the more effective they are in their roles. Well trained leaders povided quality, fun-filled programs for all Scouts. Many of the supplemental training sessions available are listed below

Baloo Training is to support the new Cub Scout Leader who has minimal camping experience but wants to plan and carry out an entry-level outdoor experience for the pack. This training is required if the pack wishes to participate in outdoor activities.

Outdoor Webelos Leader Training (OWL)- This training course is required for Webelos Leaders that wish to take their Webelos Den overnight camping. Completion of BALOO does not replace this training. This training is not required for Webelos Leaders to complete basic training but is required for their training award.

Youth Protection Training- This 90 minute training course is required for all leaders. It is not taught as a part of basic leader training. It is offered throughout the year both on a District and Council level.

Cub Scout Leader Pow Wow - A training extravaganza of knowledge and skills to help you become a more effective leader. An exciting day-long carnival of action, activities, and program ideas.

Unit Leader Roundtables - Roundtables are held monthly for the purpose of giving adult leaders the skills and ideas they need to deliver an exciting Scout program to their Scouts.

Trainer Development Conference - A course designed to train those who conduct training for leaders in Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, Venturing, commissioner service, and district/council operations. Emphasized are the latest training methods and techniques.

Commissioner Basic Training - A training program for unit commissioners. It is offered in-council as well as at the annual College of Commissioner's Science training event which is now part of the University of Scouting.

University of Scouting - Formerlly called Pow Wow, this is a fun-filled event of Scouting to learn new ideas. Sessions programmatic elements as well as administrative skills.

Troop Committee Challenge - This three-hour course is required for all committee members to be trainied. It will teach them their roles and importance to your troop.

Powderhorn - A fun course for Venturing Leaders and Boy Scout Leaders who work with older Scouts. The course provides and introduction and overview to over fifteen outdoor and high adventure skills. Emphasis on the Venturing Ranger Award.

Philmont Training Center - The Philmont Training Center (PTC) provides a unique environment for the training of volunteer and professional leaders. Each conference features the latest tools and techniques, audiovisuals, discussions and dea sharing led by a faculty of experienced Scouters. Invitation to these conferences is upon recommendation of the local council or a national committee.

Trek Safely - Health and safety course for backpacking and trekking activities.

Climb On Safely - Health and safety course for climbing and rappelling activities.

Safe Swim Defense - Health and safety course for swimming activities.

Safety Afloat - Health and safety course for boating and watercraft activities.
